Conversation

Granted I like to talk. Yes I am very talkative for sure. Of course my husband says I talk too much, but I do take a breath on occasion. I try to pause when I am conversing, after I finish making my point, and give the other person a chance to say something. It is called a conversation for a reason. Now if I am preaching or lecturing, you probably won’t get a word in edgewise, but in a conversation, pauses are proper etiquette.
“Yes I have a reason for all this. lol”
There is a time when one should listen. If you do all the talking and never listen how are you supposed to grow? Hypothetically if I were to meet Jesus and we started talking to one another, just how in the world would I learn anything from Him if I didn’t pause to listen to what He had to tell me?
I do believe in listening as well as talking. When we listen to what other people have to say we are showing them that we value them as a human being. If while they are talking I am looking around and obviously not listening to them, I am showing them that I really could care less about them.
We can never really get to know somebody unless we listen to what they have to say. By talking we reveal ourselves to others. Yes people are not always interested in the same things, which makes to hard to listen or talk to others at times. But we should at least make a concerted effort to validate others by listening to their story and maybe politely bowing out when the opportunity arises.
It is frustrating to no end when someone completely monopolizes a conversation and won’t let you say anything, when you would like to make a point about something they have been talking about. I find it hard to talk to people that do that but I know some of them and talk to them anyway.  🙂 I still love them though.
I do think that conversation should be taught when we are young. People should teach their children to allow others to interject something while they are talking to one another. The definition of conversation is: the informal exchange of ideas by spoken words. Key word; exchange! lol
In case your wondering this morning I had an experience with this subject. Thank you for tolerating my little rant.

People are not the enemy

I am not one to talk politics a lot but here is how I feel led to approach this subject. Let us pray that the people that are spewing hate on both sides will actually find Jesus for real! So many say they are saved but are still walking in darkness. When and if they do find the Lord and the light is shining in their hearts they will see their sinful deeds and repent of their wicked ways. That is the only real answer! Jesus said that once we know the truth it will set us free. People are in bondage and they do not even realize it. They have strong holds that need to be broken. Spiritual warfare is needed in a mighty way here.
Ephesians 6:12 New King James Version (NKJV)
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
People are not our enemy. The spirits behind their actions are.

Do you have cracks?

When you have a relationship with God He is in everything you do. I understand why Jesus taught in parables a lot. He was no stranger to hard work and understood how things work in nature. You can find parables in every aspect of working in the yard especially when it comes to weeds. They are truly insidious just like evil. They find little cracks that you would not think of to grow in. It has me thinking about the cracks in my own life that might have weeds growing in them. Sometimes when you pull them out the root stays and up comes the weed again. I see them in my own life. Do you see them in yours? I think we all have weeds that need to be pulled out by the roots. Lord please plow up my fallow ground and yank out the roots of evil that I may not even see. Let my life glorify You in every aspect and live through me. Nothing that I do should ever be done without You! Help me to walk with you daily as I go about doing whatever I have to do.
Food for thought, Deboriah
This is a post I made on Facebook recently. I am going to start making them here and sharing them to Facebook. I have several that I will post here to catch up and then there will be more to come as God gives them to me. God bless you and thank you for visiting my blog.

Jesus is the Light!

Everything and I do mean everything that we have on this earth can be made into a parable to understand the ways of God. Take for instance our ways of traveling.  Roads, signs, bridges etc….  There are roads and on these roads are all sorts of signs that help us get to where we are going.  Life itself is a road and if we look around we can see signs everywhere that show us where we are going. If we ignore those signs we get lost and or suffer consequences. Sometimes that is death or an accident.  The same holds true with life in general and the paths we choose to take.

The Bible says there is only one way to get to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ! Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” (John 14:6)  One can take the wrong road and go someplace else besides Heaven if they do not follow the signs that God has given us!  The signs are all around us!  The world is in darkness and cannot see and some refuse to see these signs.

The bible says that the wages of sin is death.  Most people have within their own hearts a moral compass that shows them what sin is. They know when they are doing right and when they are doing wrong.  This is built in to us because God created us that way!  It shows too as a lot of people that don’t even know Jesus as Lord are basically good hearted people. But it is also obvious that there are some that shut that compass off or decide not to pay attention to it.  😦  Sadly these people will follow the wrong path which ultimately leads to death.

If you are seeking the right path know this.  Jesus is the light!  He will show you that path.  It isn’t that hard to understand really.  The biggest problem most times is our own foolish pride and or ego.  Some people think that Jesus is a crutch.  I am here to tell you right now that if He is I need that crutch!  But He really isn’t a crutch, He is a rock!  Jesus is THE ROCK on which I choose to build my life!  My faith is in Him and Him alone. There is no other way than through Him to reach the Father and this I know in my heart.  If you don’t know Jesus as the Lord of your life please do not wait any longer to seek Him out.  Time is short now and the time of Grace is nearing the end. Don’t wait until it is too late and you are thinking: I should have listened to those people I thought were crazy.  Jesus loves you! You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. It is a decision that you will never regret.

Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV)

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Do Not Be Afraid! God is in Control!

So many things are going on around us every day. Things are happening so fast and furious and many of them are frightening and even terrifying to some.
Please try to focus your eyes and hearts on Jesus. Remember that God is still in control! He loves us very very much and all these things are happening for a reason.
Though many of us feel helpless there is something we can do. We can put our trust in Him and Him alone. All of what is happening, is being allowed to make us redirect our trust from the things of this world to the Lord of Lord’s and King of King’s sweet Jesus. (Although the enemy would have it be the other way around. Don’t let him win.)
Jesus is our infallible King! So therefore it is to Him we must direct our trust, allegiance, obedience, and faith. If you believe in God and worship Jesus the world government is not your government but Jesus IS THE KING! We must crown Him King of King’s and Lord of Lords in all things and in all ways! He is the one that should Govern our lives! He can move mountains and so can we when we walk in His will. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Nothing is impossible with God!
Because the “world” lacks the knowledge of God is it truly in captivity to the evil that rules this world. Our leaders are not Godly and they are leading us down a path of destruction for without the knowledge of God we all shall surely perish. Seek Him today while He can still be found. The Bible says in Romans 8:28 ” And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. ”
Do you love God? If so then seek His will in your life that you may be called according to His purpose in these last days. The fields are ripe for harvest! There is no such thing as too many workers! Be encouraged today knowing that God is in control and He has a plan and all these things that are happening are part of that plan in some way. His love is greater than we can even imagine. Put your life in His hands today. You won’t regret it!Imageriss

Remembering Great Finds of Yesterday

I have found a lot of great stuff to sell on-line.  I found an old post of mine and decided to update it in remembrance of a few of them.  A blast from the past and here is hoping I will find a lot more great things for my customers in the future!  I am making this post not to brag, I know it sounds like that but isn’t meant to, but to show people that there is a way to make a little extra money out there if you do  your homework! God blesses so much and so many people are hurting for money just to have their necessities. I pray that this post helps somebody.  If it only helps one person find a way to make some much needed funds then it has been worth the effort!

This is one of the pipes that was in a whole lot of pipes you will see more below and read a little more about them.

Pipes

Old Tobacco Pipes

This is the complete collection of 27 pipes that I bought from a sale.  I really hate to say what I paid for them.  🙂  It seemed like a lot of money at the time but they brought a lot more on ebay.  I did make a mistake when I listed one of them and learned a lot from that mistake because it should have brought a lot more money.  It was a Peterson “Mark Twain” pipe. Only got 100 for it and found out that they can fetch in the neighborhood of 140o.00!  Yes I kicked myself for that one.  But all in all this was a great find worth mentioning.  I made almost 800.00 off of these pipes!  So much fun too and I learned a lot about pipes as I did the research listing them.

Winston Churchhill History of the English Speaking People
Winston Churchhill History of the English Speaking People

I bought a van load of books from a lady and this set or two just like it were in the load.  Paid 80.00 for everything!  These two set more than paid for the whole haul.  I made 400 off of them alone.  This business is a wonderful way to get blessed because you never know what you are going to find!  🙂  I still have a lot of books to sell also.

Vaseline Glass Fenton Epergne

Vaseline Glass Fenton Epergne

This lovely Fenton Vaseline Glass epergne was found at an auction.  It glowed beautifully under the black light.  I tripled my original investment on it.  Just have to mention here that these kinds of finds are the exceptions to the rule.  One does not always find the great deals like this but there are a lot of nice things out there that people decide to sell really cheap because they don’t want it anymore or they inherited it and it just isn’t their thing I guess.  One man’s trash is truly another man’s treasure.

Ornate Green Swag Glass lamp

Ornate Green Swag Glass lamp

A friend of mine sold me this lovely swag lamp really cheap.  She said, “I know it is worth more than that but I don’t want it and I got it really cheap.” So I got it for 15.00!   It was so beautiful I really considered keeping it but decided to try it out on ebay first.  I listed it for 150 and it sold.  These lovely swag lamps can fetch a pretty penny on ebay sometimes.  This one I believe was worth much more than that but hey I am not complaining!

Spillman style Carousel Horse

Spillman style Carousel Horse

Here is a good example of one persons trash being another persons treasure for sure!  A lady gave me a bunch of depression glass and this horse was in it.  I thought nothing of the horse really.  I didn’t realize it was valuable at all so I put like 30.00 on it in my shop. Well it did not sell so after a while I decided to do some research on it and list it on ebay.  You won’t believe this!  This item fetched over 300.00!  Yep you are seeing that correctly!  I was floored!  This is an example in my humble opinion of this scripture:
Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your lap. For with the same measure that you measure it shall be measured to you again.

I pray that the lady who blessed me so will be abundantly.

Black Lace Beaded gown

Black Lace Beaded gown

I found this beautiful dress from the early 1950’s at a big sale that I attend twice a year.  Paid about 5 dollars for it if I remember correctly.  This dress brought over 100 dollars on ebay.  There was a tag inside of it that read; Torri White, Miss Ellis County 1953, so it was worn by a lady that won the Miss Ellis County, TX pageant.  🙂  A little piece of history!

Old Teeter Totter

Found this wonderful little Teeter Totter at a sale on the side of the road.  Paid 10.00 for it and listed it on Ebay Classifieds.  A couple came from Houston and gave me 125.00 for it.  🙂

Moon and Stars Amberina

Moon and Stars Amberina

One more item!  There are a lot more but this is the last one I am going to share on this post.  This set I bought all in one place in excellent condition for 30.00!  It is very hard to find this much in one spot much less for such a great deal!
The salt and pepper shaker was stolen from my little antique store that I used to have.  I prayed for the lady that took it and think I know who it was.  My prayer was for salvation for her and her entire family!  🙂  Never do I pray bad things on people because that is out of line with the Will of God!  Pray in line with His Will and you will always be blessed.
After all was said and done I made over 160.00 on the rest of the set.  Not bad for the small investment I made in it.

As I sat here thinking about how to deal with someone stealing from you the scriptures below came to mind.  We must always walk in love no matter what the situation.  As I am typing this I am reminded that I truly need to work on this area of my life, especially in my marriage.  God is so good and merciful to me!  His love and mercy endure forever!  All the glory honor and praise belong to  Him and Him alone!

Matthew5::38“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I tell you not to resist an evildoer. On the contrary, whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well. 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat as well. 41 And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go two with him. 42 Give to the person who asks you for something, and do not turn away from the person who wants to borrow something from you.”

Matthew 5:43“You have heard that it was said, ‘You must love your neighbor  and hate your enemy. 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you will become children of your Father in heaven, because he makes his sun rise on both evil and good people, and he lets rain fall on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Even the tax collectors do the same, don’t they? 47 And if you greet only your relatives, that’s no great thing you’re doing, is it? Even the unbelievers do the same, don’t they? 48 So be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Shalom!

Our Countenance is important!

Today I was thinking about “countenance” as in the facial appearance or expression as a sign of mood, emotion, or character. The countenance actually expresses the inner working and or condition of a man’s spirit or heart.  The inner beauty, shame, guilt, turmoil, pain, or ugliness does show in a person’s countenance to some extent though it is not always easy to see. To be clear here I must say that I am not talking about beauty or ugliness as the world thinks of them.

Psalm 10:4  The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

Let me explain what I mean by this.  I will use as an example a man that I have come to know recently who is very dear to me.
Upon first meeting him I thought that he always had such a sweet expression and appeared to be a kind man.  Not only that but he appeared to glow and even more at some times than others.  This attracted me to him and made me want to get to know him better as a person.
I still have not known him long but one thing I have learned about him is that the countenance on his face reflects the love of God that is in his heart. They say you can not judge a person from outward appearance but I am not sure that is always so true. The outward man tends to take on the appearance of the inner man. As we study the Word of God, spend time with Him in prayer and worship, and generally seek His will in our lives it really does show in our countenance.
The Bible says   “Ecclesiastes 8:1: Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed.”  So it is when one is in relationship with God that his face shines.  I call it wearing the love of God like a cloak.  This is the kind of countenance I want to have.  That glow that comes from the inner man is not easy to fake in my opinion.  The countenance of ones face speaks a multitude of things about a person.

“Psalm 42:11b  I shall yet praise Him, Who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”
Every day I see so many beautiful people as I go about my daily routines.  It is hard sometimes for me not to hug some of them when I see the pain in their eyes.  This world is a hard place and many times it beats down those that have a tender heart and sometimes they become bitter.  The only way I know to overcome this is to get into a relationship with Jesus. Only He can heal a broken heart and fill it with hope and love that is like a healing balm to our soul.
I am most always quite cheerful smiling, humming, singing or whistling a lot.  Most of the time I have a smile on my face even when I am alone and it is a reflection of the joy that God has placed in my heart.  Upon first meeting me sometimes people ask me why I am so happy.  I love it when people ask that question as it gives me a chance to tell them of the joy that I have found in Jesus.  This isn’t saying that I have not had hard times or heart break and sadness but it is that my Father in His Mercy has lifted me up and caused healing in my life.  The joy, hope and peace that He has given me is so precious and priceless!  I would not take for my walk with Jesus.  He has truly set me free.

I always say I am not judgmental but I guess I am really because I do judge a person by the countenance they wear.  In that countenance I can see their inner beauty no matter what they look like on the outside or at least I think I can. That inward beauty is there in all of us but as we seek relationship with God it grows and begins to shine like a light from the inside out.  This is the light that Jesus told us not to hide.
Matthew 5:14-16  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.

So today as I meditate on His Holy Word and spend time thinking upon the things of God, it is my prayer that His love shines brightly upon the faces of those that have relationship with Him. All for His glory that the world will see the light in His people and be prompted to ask us from whence it comes.  And I pray that with boldness we will share with them the Good News that Jesus is our Savior and Lord of All!

Thoughts and Sharing Current events

Just thought I would talk a little about what I have been up to lately and share a little of my own thoughts.  Much of my time is being spent trying to list things on the internet to sell.  I have been working on a  little web site and am now adding things to it for sell. After much thought I decided to just put things in my stores on Etsy, and Bonanza and just link the items in on my page.
I am not a web master and had to find an easy and free wysiwyg editor to work with which is truly easier said than done. And I know nothing about CSS and can not even figure out how to make a style sheet.  The point here is that one gains a new respect for people who build web sites when they pursue a project of this sort.
My main reason for the web page is that people are always asking me where I list my things.  I have more than one place and with the web page I can share all of those places at one time.  Seems like a great idea anyway!  The problem is that it is very time consuming and trying to juggle buiding the web site and accomplishing the other things that I have to do in my life is difficult to say the least.  And yes I am saying that with a smile on my face.
It is a challenge and one that I hope I can accomplish.  Slowly I am adding some things to my stores and I do mean slowly. Hopefully as I get going I will gain momentum and get things listed faster.  When I look around on the web and see stores that have 100’s and thousands of items I think; “Wow! These people have put a lot into that.  I bet they had help.”  It is a lot to do by yourself and involves a lot more than people understand.  I am the photographer, book keeper, lister, web page builder, writer, buyer, seller, mail clerk, bargain finder, social media person, computer operator, and then on top of that wife, chief cook and bottle washer, and overall household manager. I guess one might say I am a multi tasker.  Not a very good one either!
One thing I know for sure is this.  If it were not for my relationship with Jesus I would go completely stark raving mad. A lot of things get put off til tomorrow that I thought I might get done today. Many things sit on the back burner for the day when I might be able to get to them. Sometimes I tend to put God on the back burner and then I remember that He belongs front and center, in my heart and Lord of my life.
It is when I keep Him there that things don’t seem so tough.  You see He carries me most of the time.  When I get too tired to walk He tells me everything is going to be ok.  This is just a season and soon it will all be in the past and I will be able to breath a sigh of relief and know that at least I tried to do what I was supposed to do.
There have been times in my life that were much tougher than now. A time when I had no place to call home, times when freedom was a dream, times of hunger, fear for my life,  loneliness, despair, heartache and deep depression.  Grateful doesn’t even begin to express the way I feel about my life at this present time.  Blessed is more like it, although I know that through it all and because of it all I have been blessed.
Many things that might have been tragic in my life have been turned around for the good by an Almighty God that loved me and lifted me up no matter the situation. Many times it happened  in ways that I would not have chosen but God’s ways are higher than mine and He chose the way that would teach me a lesson that I would never forget.  I know He was right and am truly grateful for it.  Everything that I have gone through in my life serves a higher purpose. I can understand and empathize with others that have gone through similar situations or may be going through them now.  I am not one to judge people because when I point one finger at them there are 3 pointing back at me.
Yes everything happens for a reason and this is all just a season soon to pass.  We are in a day and age when any moment the Rapture may take place. Many terrible things are happening in the world what with all the active volcanoes, the earthquakes, floods, pestilence, disease, violence, wars and rumors of wars and signs in the heavens that tell us that the time is near. This Day of Grace is drawing to an end.  My heart is heavy for those that are lost or those that scoff at God. Those that call what is evil good and profane the Word of God to make a mockery of Him.  My hope is in God and it is in Him alone that we can find peace, salvation, and the safety and security that we really need.  An eternal security like none that anyone else can offer us is to be had if we have Jesus as Lord of our life!
Ask Jesus to be Lord of your life today. You will never regret it because His yoke is easy and His burden is light.  There is only one way to enter the gates of heaven and Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light!  He is the Lamb of God that was slain for the sins of the World. Without Him there is no hope. Without Him all would perish.

Thought for the day on Judging

Thought for the day. Some things are a matter of our own conscious and it seems that some of us have differing ideas in our own hearts concerning things that are right and wrong such as celebrating certain holidays or eating certain foods or maybe even wearing certain clothing, makeup or jewelry items. Let not these things cause us to judge one another. God judges our hearts each individually. No man can judge another justly because he can not see the heart as God can. Let us love one another unconditionally, pray for and let the Holy Spirit and the Word guide people and let God do the judging. God has this! He is still in control. Love you all!

Romans 14:1-23
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Principles of Conscience

14 Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions. 2 One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. 3 The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him. 4 Who are you to judge the [a]servant of another? To his own [b]master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

5 One person [c]regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, [d]does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God. 7 For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself; 8 for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. 11 For it is written,

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall [e]give praise to God.”
12 So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this—not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s way. 14 I know and am convinced [f]in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 For if because of food your brother is hurt, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be [g]spoken of as evil; 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who in this way serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. 19 So then [h]we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another. 20 Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats [i]and gives offense. 21 It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles. 22 The faith which you have, have [j]as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.

Jesus is Coming!

I wrote this after in April 2013 after God awakened me the night before. Thought I would share it here on my blog.

Jesus is coming!

April 2, 2013 at 4:04pm

Last night I was very forcefully awakened at midnight by the Holy Spirit.  I was almost screaming Jesus is coming and I am not sure how many times I said it.  The feeling I had was mostly indescribable.  First there was a flash of light and I felt like I was being lifted up and I starting crying out Jesus is coming.  I think I said it 3 times but am not sure.  (I do know that I said it with such force that my throat was and is irritated though.) My husband was jolted awake also and immediately reached and grabbed me in his arms.  He couldn’t talk for a while he was so taken aback by the whole thing. When I asked him what he was thinking he said I was just asking God to forgive me for all I have done wrong.

After that I shook for probably an hour and prayed for others as well, including people that are not really my friends.  My husband and I also talked about how horrible it would be to be left behind.  With that in mind I did finally try to go back to sleep but I couldn’t sleep much at all.  The Holy Spirit was speaking to me about scriptures I had recently read.

He revealed to me that there are a lot of people that are Christians that have not received the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  When the Rapture takes place before the great tribulation …and that will be very soon….many of these people are in danger of being left behind.  The one that is restraining the anti-christ right now is the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit dwells in God’s people.  When the Holy Spirit is removed from the earth the people that He dwells in will also be removed.

God is about to pour His Holy Spirit out upon His people.  By this you will know who you are.  “Jhn 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” Those that really want to live a Holy life before God will be filled.

Going to church alone is not what will save you but having Christ in your heart and striving to live a life that is in line with what the scripture has spoken to you. That is why the Bible says that we must “study to show ourselves approved.” If you are seeking His direction and if you can humble yourself and ask Him to work in you and to let His will be done in your life then you will be filled with His Spirit.

There are people who go to church all the time that don’t do this.  They say “I will not change for anybody.”  They are stiff necked (rebellious, obstinate) people who have set their hearts against God.  Their hearts are like the fallow ground which was once tilled but now has grown hard and nothing but weeds can grow in it. Good seeds can not take hold because it is hard and not fertile. God’s Word can not penetrate their hearts while it is in this state. It doesn’t matter what we say to them because they can not hear the Word much less understand what it means.  They are full of pride and pride comes before the fall.

Pride keeps us from hearing what God is saying. People that are full of pride are always certain that they are right and refuse to listen to anyone else including and or especially the Word of God. They get defensive when they are criticized and may feel like they are being judged even though we may just be trying to help them understand what God’s Word says. They make excuses for the way they live such as, “nobody’s perfect, I can’t walk on water, I was born that way, I came from a dysfunctional family and or I was abused as a child.”  These people will lash out and say and do hurtful things when they are presented with truth and have no desire to examine their own life (circumcise their hearts) in light of God’s Word and even though a lot of the excuses they make may be true, they refuse to accept help in any form other than doing what they want to do. They tend to pray without repenting (turning from their sins) and therefore repeat the same mistakes over and over again.  This can happen to anybody when they harden their hearts thinking that they know it all and sometimes we don’t realize it until it is too late!

“Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord until He comes to rain righteousness on you… ” Hosea 10:12

( I see myself in everything I just typed at one time or another in my life.)

Lord have mercy on me a sinner and help me to be teachable. Lord you are the Potter and I am the clay!
